Garden Art, #Gardenchat & More Giveaways!

Check out the sweet mural in Michele’s garden. This sweet piece of art was lovingly painted by her husband. *Aww* She blogs at The Gardening Greenhorn. Check it out!

Hey, remember my ode to everything compost and #gardenchat? Well, on May 24 I guest hosted the weekly Twitter session and talked all things school gardens.

Missed the chatter? Check out the #gardenchat transcript HERE; #gardenchat resumes Monday, June 7, 9:00 p.m. EST on Twitter. Fern of Life on the Balcony will be leading #gardenchat and discussing container gardening. Join us!

Thank you to Daily Breeze staff writer Sandra Barrera for including the Wrigley Village Community Garden in an article about community gardens. Read full story HERE.

Fruitful and Multiplying: More turning to community gardens

Last month Anarchy in the Garden turned one. As a token of my appreciation I promised to dole out prizes daily. Well, it didn’t quite happen that way. The celebration will continue until all goodies are divvied up. Slow and steady wins the race!

Per Random.org #11 is the champ – That’s you Andrea of Heavy Petal! You win heavenly Gardener’s Scrubbing Soap in Basil Poppy Seed by Botanical Interests. Just email me your mailing addy!

This week’s contest is courtesy of Corona tools. They’re graciously gifting a pair of Corona bypass pruners BP6250D. These pruners have a 1″ diameter cutting capacity, are ergonomic and lightweight. Lucky!

Leave a comment; tell me what you are harvesting in your garden. A winner will be picked at random in one week. Good luck!

    Congrats, Master Gardener Adriana :)
This makes your awesomeness good and ‘official’! Seriously, it’s unbelievable what you have accomplished this past year!

Sooo, when are you coming by for the tomato plants, busy lady? I have some really robust ones that desperately need to get planted!

  4. lisa on Tuesday 1, 2010

I’m harvesting peas, lettuce, spinach, green onions, garlic scapes and herbs! I can’t wait for updates on the farm..and for your next co-hostess turn at #gardenchat!

  5. Fern @ Life on the Balcony on Tuesday 1, 2010

Did you see that you were also mentioned in the Press Telegram last week?

  6. Michele Lujan on Tuesday 1, 2010

    Thanks for the shout out!
Not harvesting anything at the moment, but have some stuff for fall…pumpkins, squash, corn, beans, peas, cucumber, carrots…

Tons of Onions, Squash, and soon corn!

  8. Millertime on Tuesday 1, 2010

Congrats on the position! I just harvested the last of a great red leaf lettuce crop-though I think next go around I need to thin it out better to grow thicker heads, but regardless, the lettuce tasted terrific. Unfortunately, no other veggies and fruits ready yet, hopefully by the end of the month. But my gardenia is bloomin’ crazy, so I’m “harvesting” the blooms which in turn makes my house smell great.

  9. jess on Tuesday 1, 2010

I’m harvesting slugs and earwigs in Olympia. As a vegetarian family, we’re rather disappointed in our current harvest. But there are peas on the horizon!

  10. jess on Tuesday 1, 2010

also, your new job sounds so dreamy! What a perfect match!

  11. Carri on Tuesday 1, 2010

congrats on the new job! And your time on #gardenchat was very helpful for me getting my daughters school garden started! As for what I’m harvesting- only artichokes and herbs right now. I SHOULD be harvesting tomatoes- but it’s been a bad, bad garden year (weather-wise).

  12. Sandra on Tuesday 1, 2010

Here is SF I’m harvesting radishes, lettuce, arugula, baby spinach, baby fava greens, kale, and herbs.

  13. Julia Martz on Tuesday 1, 2010

I am harvesting lettuce, green onions, herbs of every kind, mustard greens, turnip greens and endive. Radishes got a slow start or I’d be harvesting them too.

    Love ur blog!

  14. Glenn Hansen on Tuesday 1, 2010

Right now, I’m doing my best to continue harvesting roses to display in the house. Need to get all my herbs going – can’t have enough fresh mint and basil around.

  15. Genevieve on Tuesday 1, 2010

All I’m harvesting this week is mint! Lots of mojitos this week, I guess. The stuff’s taken over my vegetable bed!

  16. Melisser on Tuesday 1, 2010

SO AWESOME! The painting, the new position, and the giveaways!

Lots of radishes this whole week. We’ve been eating more than our bellies can handle, sharing with family and practically handing them to anyone who walks past! Maybe next year we’ll dedicate a little less to radishes and more to the beets :)

Spring strawberries are almost at the end of their harvest. By far the BEST strawberries we’ve ever had, in our garden or otherwise. Divine!

  19. Andrea S on Tuesday 1, 2010

Harvesting tons of apricots in Rocklin, CA!

  20. Tasha on Tuesday 1, 2010

the kids and I picked green beans and cucumbers this am. we have many green tomatoes that will be ready soon! my favorite time of year!!

  21. Tamara on Tuesday 1, 2010

I just can’t get my mind wrapped around actually gardening for food……so much work…….so little time. However, we are converting 5 acres of our glass greenhouse to cucumbers this month. Sound exciting?
